Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The Fachsprachenprüfung Pflege can be used to recognise your linguistic aptitude, which you need for your professional training to be recognised in Germany if you come from another country. In this examination, international nursing staff must demonstrate that they can speak and write German well enough for patients, relatives and the team to understand them. Good German language skills are also important in nursing to improve patient safety and avoid misunderstandings. It also helps people to familiarise themselves quickly, take on responsibility and feel comfortable in the team. Good technical language is therefore crucial for a successful start in German professional life.

The Fachsprachenprüfung Pflege checks whether nursing staff can understand and implement the special requirements for their communication. In the exam, they have to complete simulated conversations with patients and colleagues and written tasks from their day-to-day work. In contrast to the B2-Sprachprüfung, nursing staff often find it easier to pass the Fachsprachenprüfung, as topics from their day-to-day work are tested. This allows nurses to use their experience to complete the exam tasks. It is important to note that the Fachsprachenprüfung is only concerned with language skills. Specialist knowledge is not tested.

In some federal states, you can take the Fachsprachenprüfung instead of the B2-Sprachprüfung. These are the federal states of Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein. Other federal states are also considering whether to introduce the Fachsprachenprüfung. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

To learn well, you will need a computer or tablet and a stable internet connection. You will also need speakers or headphones to listen to the audio and video content of the course. This will allow you to fully understand the course content and complete the tasks. You will receive a tablet on loan for the online preparation course for the Online Vorbereitungskurs Fachsprachenprüfung Pflege so that you can make optimum use of the learning platform.

You should have at least GER language level B1 to take part.

Our courses are designed to help you learn basic nursing words and expressions. You can also apply and deepen your existing knowledge. We also prepare you well for the Fachsprachenprüfung Pflege, which you will need for your professional recognition. However, you will not automatically receive an official language certificate.

You can start at any time for courses where there are no lessons with a teacher. If you need help choosing the right course or have any questions, please feel free to contact us. In the preparatory course for the Fachsprachenprüfung Pflege, there are times when you can study without a teacher on the learning platform, but there are also times with live lessons. The start of your course depends on the group you are joining. Together we will find a suitable time so that you can start your preparation quickly.

The teachers at NICE are teachers with experience in nursing and teachers of German as a second language/German as a foreign language (Deutsch als Zweit- und Fremdsprache, DaZ/DaF). They have a lot of specialised knowledge and experience. As a result, they make sure that you learn both the language and the specialised knowledge.
